And with no approved building permit. No way they are paying any penalties and fines like the small time builders. The big boys always get their way in this third world banana republic.
I’ll take your word for it even though it’s the internet. Source? (I’m not surprised - everything is a payoff here)
Maui is getting one too! It's slated to open by late spring. The restaurant is already under construction, and it looks great. It even will have double drive-thru.
I'm a bit concerned about the traffic, there's also going to be Sonic and a Canes Chicken Fingers on the same street!!
I do think these will have some effect the food trucks on Maui.
But lately the food trucks have been charger more and making the plates smaller.

Where are these restaurants going to locate? What street?
All of them are going to be on Hoʻokele St.
The shopping center on the Wast end of the street is anchored by Target-----the shopping center on the East end is anchored by the new Safeway. There's already a new Taco Bell next to the Safeway, however, they are always sold-out of the Mexican Pizza, lol.

Most of the land along that street is not developed yet, but it is already a nightmare to turn left onto the Hana Highway by the airport, sometimes requiring two or three long signal cycles to get to the intersection.
Surprising location for fast food since it is not near any schools or housing. Basically, an auto mall, Lowes, and a Safeway on the far edge of Kahului.

I agree, traffic is already a nightmare. Cars already are pouring into Safeway parking lot because the Safeway Gas Station has the cheapest gas on Maui except maybe for Costco. The Taco Bell Drive-Thru is always backed up in the parking lot, and the strip mall occupancy isn't even full yet.
Another problem is the homeless setting up camp behind the Safeway already. There's been multiple fires originating from that location. They are starting to hang out because there is a barrier from the constant tradewinds with shade. Also, there are bathrooms and a Starbucks with free internet with limited indoor seating. Because there's no seating inside, the people sit around on the outside because they can pick-up the internet signal.

The controversy isn't so much as anti-gay - the company is against same sex marriage.
