Well I hunted with a Montgomery Wards single shot Bay State 12 ga as an older teen. No recoil pad, 2 3/4” 00 buck.. couldn’t afford a rifle.

But it kicked like a mule and I managed to kill a few whities with it, lol.

I've seen 6.5CMin every WalMart I've been to in rural Texas. It's a popular round these days.

I have read that the 6.5 Creedmoor is the same as .243 Winchester in the fact they dont leave good blood trails according to trackers who use dogs to track wounded deer. One of the whole reasons why I am trying to get another gun is because I want a gun that leaves better blood trails than .243 Winchester.I know we already addressed it in the thread but I just dont want to take a chance on another gun that is alleged to leave poor blood trails like the 6.5 Creedmoor and .243 Winchester.

6.5 and .243 are not the same. The 6.5 bullets are better, have better sectional density and better ballistics. Blood trails are more a function of bullet design and shot placement than anything else. What grain bullets are you using in .243?

You might want to look at a Marlin lever action .45-70. That will leave large blood trails.

I was just saying that the .243 and the 6.5 Creedmoor are the same in the fact that they allegedly dont leave good blood trails according to professional trackers.I know the .243 and 6.5 Creedmoor are very different but I read on a gun site that they share the characteristic that they leave poor blood trails.I have no personal experience using a 6.5 Creedmoor however my guide thinks I will lose so many deer if I hunt with a 6.5 Creedmoor. My mom and dad wont let me get a lever action or a .45-70.I use 100 Grain bullets in my .243 Winchester.

Given that your guide seems to disagree with most of the advice provided here, you would probably be best served by simply listening to your guide. Just have him tell you what to get, and if your Mommy and Daddy approve, then you’re good to go.

However, consider this - the 6.5 CM isn’t fundamentally different from other 6.5 cartridges that operate at similar velocity levels. And the various 6.5’s are among the very best of the small bores.

Can a .45-70 kill a whitetail from 330 yards because I think a .45-70 may drop too much.I need a gun that can reach out to 330 yards.

If they think a .30-06 would bet too much for you why are you (or they) considering a .45/70 for Gods sake?

.45-70 is probably only good out to about 315, maybe 320. You should look at something else.
