Hopefully we will end up with a store similar to the ones they have recently remodeled in Easley.
I used to work in the 81/153 area - retail/shopping there is disappointing (esp with all the upscale subdivisions/developments) - the local Bi-Lo is AWFUL (probably one of the worst Bi-Lo's in the Upstate) - I was surprised there was no Publix anywhere (unless one drives to Easley)
BI-LO #5568, Powdersville Plaza, 3518 Highway 153, Greenville, South Carolina 29611-7553, is not doing well. Its hours of operation have been reduced by closing at 2200 hours (10 pm) instead of 2300 hours (11 pm). The new Ingle's #73, 10903 Anderson Road, Piedmont, South Carolina 29673-8202, will greatly impact BI-LO #5568.
Publix should open a store in Powdersville. Ingle's is rebuilding and replacing stores in North Carolina trade areas Publix has opened, is constructing, and has announced store locations. I would not be surprised if Ingle's is replacing Ingle's #73 if Publix entering the trade area.

Really? I actually think the Powdersville Bi-Lo is one of the nicest ones there is.
Back in 2007 there was a plan to put what we thought was a publix in powdersville. There was some talk that it might be a Bloom also, as that still looked viable ten years ago. When the economy went south quick, it all evaporated.
Now if you really want to think about what might have been in that area, back when developers were looking at downtown for the new baseball stadium, Mandalay Bay had a competing proposal that would have put the stadium across I85, very close to the southern connector.I knew the guy who owned the property that MB had a contract on.During this my friend learned that Mandalay Bay had such an impact that Bass Pro bought an option on a piece of property on 153.I don't know where that might have been.
I guess I'm glad it went like it did, because I didn't want a Bass Pro a couple miles from my house!
Most of the last 20 years I've been employed by banks with Branches in Powdersville.Bankers usually know what is going on locally. No I don't remember, but I'll try to ask next time I'm out there.
The family that owned that property really got reamed by the odd provisions of the trust that held the property.I don't remember the details, but trusts lead to unintended consequences.
