Surprise surprise. Atlanta checks in at #10. Jacksonville, the only FL city on the list, checks in at #6 with a depression ranking of #2. Las Vegas makes the top-5 and Nashville/Davidson, TN is on the list too. Portland, OR was #1. The rest were pretty obvious choices such as Detroit and New Orleans.

There are a lot of bad things you can say about South Florida, but depressing is not one of them.

You couldn't guess with all the bigoted comments from all the people who've left this place due to "race" reasons. They'll use buzz words like crime, crazy drivers, and one obvious description that nobody speaks english anymore down here. To me that seems like you're leaving because there's less white people here and you don't like that. Just my 2 cents on things, but this place definitely not a depressing area. The only time it's depressing is when all the depressed people that have moved here from somewhere else say they're unhappy here. I'm sure they'd be depressed anywhere they go.

For all the things you can say about South FL, being depressing is certainly not one of them. I know many people do not like it on this board, and sometimes it gets really old reading all the bashing. Some sprawling in South FL may not be exactly my ideal of urbanization either, but the sun still shines (although many would say it is too hot... I am afraid some people would not be happy anywhere.)

I dont know if it is unhappy, or just mad. But there's something in South FL that seems to attract the mad and rude. And things like crime, crazy drivers, rude people, and less white people are definitely legit reasons to leave S FL. I can name a lot of people (family and friends) that have left for those exact reasons!

Also, there are tons of survery like this one out there. Miami has a lot of miserable and angry people, and I am shocked it's not on the list. Go to Atlanta (ranked 10th) and visit Miami and you tell me.

I can understand Miami being on this list, but Fort Lauderdale is a different city, at least for the most part.

Nothing angry, rude or miserable in that post.

Not sure what you mean (assuming your being sarcastic). I was simply stating my thoughts about South Florida.

Ok, I'll try here, but I gather you don't even live here anymore - Why are you coming here to complain about what you didn't like? Why not just be happy somewhere else and leave well enough alone? Plus specifying race as a reason to move is at the very least - really rude.

I didnt state race, someone above me posted that people use things like crime, rude ppl, and bad driving as "cover-ups" for people who really just want to be around more white people. While I think some folks may think that, many of them wouldnt post that as being a reason. What I said was I could see why some folks would leave S FL due to crime, rude people, bad driving, and fewer white people, and consider those legit reasons. I know some of the folks who left for those very reasons, so to me, they are legit.
