We get it...you don't like South Florida but there are millions of others that feel the complete opposite of you.

What I don't get about NYers that complain about the heat is that its not like NYC is San Diego weather. I would say that NYC is worse in the summer then South Florida. The radiant heat coming off the concrete and glass building makes the city become an oven. And good luck taking the subway during this time. Its about as unbearable as I have ever been in my life. NYC has better weather 3 months out of the year.

We recognize that language is sometimes fluid and we make allowance for regional, local colloquialisms and vernacular, and we have no problem incorporating into our spoken and written language the most recent additions and adaptations reflective of a relatively young nation on the go, a vibrant, eclectic country expanding its frontiers even as we speak.

To be sure, proper spoken and written language does have its place and time and America has a legacy of some of the most brilliant writers and speakers in the history of the English language - a language which we took from the English, stripped it of its unnecessary impediments, superfluity, outdated verbiage, and transformed it into a meaningful, easy, artistic form of communication.

Here on these South Florida boards and elsewhere we need not have an albatross around us dictating that every "t' must be crossed, every "i" dotted, every comma inserted. It's the content of the post that matters most as in the discussion of the enormous pros and cons of living in South Florida and in any part of our beautiful country.

True, we must teach kids in school and at home the proper structure, rules, use of the language so that they can communicate well at work, at school, in formal settings. They must understand grammar, sentence construction, good diction, the elements of proper writing style, etc. We must however also understand that in fast typing for a forum, speedy conversation, impromptu spontaneous dialogue, content takes precedence to formality if the latter impedes the former.

The expression of our innermost sentiemnts on these forums in helping people make the best decisions about life altering events supercedes any pretense at highfalutin grammatical correctness. Sure, we may not be invited to dine with the Queen.......but a bunch of tea thrown in a harbor centuries ago best demonstrates what we think of such an invitation and a cleavage to must use so-called proper collective nouns dictated by any royalty, country or continent sometimes still stuck in medieval times.

We in America continue to lead the way into the new millenium unencumbered by centuries of anachronistic language, culture, behavior impeding the progress of others struggling to keep apace with us.
Well said!! And btw, there are times when my internet access slows up for whatever reason and I type so quickly that letters are missed and sometimes I don't even realize it as my fingers are flying across the keyboard at 85 wpm.

What happens is that when my computer slows down, although I may depress the right keys they are not always picked up by the computer during moments when it "freezes" or "locks" up.

Sometimes I catch the typos, other times not as I am thinking while I am typing and often post without actually proofreading, but I've been typing for years with a high level of accuracy so I'm not used to typos.

Just an fyi for those of you who may think that people whose posts contain typos are unintelligent in some way. There are times when I have wanted to correct my mistatkes but realized it was too late to edit.

Wow, thank you all for the responses to this post. I actually recieved a job offer to move to south florida and have decided I am most likely going to be turning it down.

Pros of Moving to South Florida from Philadelphia

1. Great weather mostly ( this extreme heat I am hearing about from June to November is actually turning me off from moving to South Florida)

2) The new company sounds like a better company then where I am at now...but not alot of upward movement anytime soon.

Cons

1) I would be making same amount of money and from those responding rents are actually more in south florida for a nice, safe area.

2) I would literally be moving to south florida not knowing ANYONE there. Also moving away from my family and all of my friends.

3) My schedule would be Graveshift....never worked that shift before...huge adjustment...again for same pay and also would be getting 10 vacation days from my 20 vacation days at my current job.

4) Breaking of lease , selling all of my stuff in short turn around time. Finding new place to live in under a month.

Anyway, thank you all for the responses...I lived in orlando for about 3 months a long time ago and that is more northern florida than where I would end up and they also have daily thunderstorms....I do not think this is the best time for me to make the move. This post is not meant to rag on south florida just trying to make the right decision for me at this time.
