I lived at South Military Trail and 10th, right by 95 at The Lakes Apartments, for 5 years. I never had any problem. I would get home at 3am with no problems.

Why do some of our beach towns have ghetto areas? Is it just a coincidence or what? Pompano, Deerfield, west Palm Beach, ft. Lauderdale. Are there any beach towns besides miami beach and sunny isles that don't have ghetto areas?

That's pretty much Broward County for you. They go from very safe to very ghetto within blocks. You can be in one part of town that's very nice and safe. Go 4-5 blocks away and it looks like a war zone. Prime example is Pompano. I used to hang out at the IHOP on US1 near the Super 8. Not a thing to worry about. Go to Dixie not too far away, ghetto. All too common in Broward.

Sure ... Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Sea Ranch Lakes and Hillsboro Beach in Broward; Ocean Ridge, Highland Beach and Manalapan in Palm Beach County, to name a few. All of these towns are small and/or wealthy and don't extend past the Intracoastal to the west.

Hi there, I know this post is a few years old but I was wondering: Has anyone heard anything about Tivoli Park, an apartment complex in Deefield Beach? Is this in a somewhat "safe" neighborhood?

Your safety is really more dependent upon you rather than the neighborhood, please share a little more information about yourself and I;ll let you know my opinion.

I'm a 22-year-old small white female grad student. I've lived in neighborhoods people consider "rough" a few times and have been fine, partially because I'm smart and don't walk around by myself at night and stuff and partially because sometimes when people say "rough" they mean "low-income and diverse." I'm wondering if this is the kind of place where my car will get broken into, bottom line.

My rule of thumb for any area is this:
The relative safety of an area is inversely related to the number of Check Cashing shops in that area.
