SeaofGrass, a lot of people make black eyed peas and greens on New Year’s Day. I make it a stew and include ground meat.
Hi, toosie. I appreciate the suggestion. I am aware of the black-eyed peas thing, although I've never made it. The only problem is, we just made cassoulet last night and it seems pretty similar. lol
I'm kind of pondering the whole brunchy, small dishes kind of thing for tomorrow.
Thanks countryluv22! Off to a good food year. Well, tasty - maybe not good for you. We’re having Jersey Mike’s steak and cheese with low salt chips for dinner. Supposed to last week but had to move it.
Ok, so I just watched a Netflix show called You Are What You Eat. I’m not a liberal tree hugger, but there was a lot about it that will make me rethink my food buying habits.
I would never buy farmed tilapia from a foreign country, but now I won’t buy ANY farmed fish from anywhere. I will seek grass fed beef, but I will explore more plant based options.
Started the weekend off with one of my favorites: small chuck roast with onions, a beef bouillon cube mashed up, half a can of cream of mushroom soup, put in oven at 9 AM at 300° for 3 hours and forget it until time to do potatoes and carrots. Makes its own gravy.

That farmed crap is crap . I get my own fish 80 miles offshore in the gulf. Same for shrimp that lack taste vs wild.
I am not using shake and bake anymore. Just makes a mess for not a lot of added taste.
