This was interesting, two cities in Florida came up in the top 10 with the worst tap water. Pensacola and Jacksonville. Cities with best and worst tap water | Yahoo! Green

When I lived in Pensacola, quite a few areas flooded pretty much every time there was a significant rain. It doesn't surprise me they have terrible drinking water.

Key West, FL should be on this list.

I have great water but then again I am on a well and 2 miles from the springs.
I have a single 5 micron filter inline just to catch any particles but I test it every year and never a problem.

I was looking at the full list and Odessa was top 20 but the Hillsborough and Tampa are down in the 60's and St.Pete is not on there.
Odessa is right by the St.Pete water processing plant but is in Hillsborough County.
Something just doesn't add up there for me.
If it is getting St.Pete water then you would think St.Pete would be up there also.
If it is getting Hillsborough County water then they should be up there.

I think it is all BS. Where are the stories about, "People are told not to drink the water and hundreds become sick"? It isn't happening. Some of the water in North Florida get very high ratings like 99 out of 100 and a perfect 100 based on what ever it is they are testing for. Bottom line is, you should be filtering what ever water you are drinking. I have a distilling system.

FL water tastes pretty bad in general. Go to a restaurant and have water to drink. Your water is cloudy and tastes funny.

Pensecola is a military town...it's surprising they're on the list. I'm not surprised that California and Vegas are well-represented on the dirty list. How does Houston ring up as bad water but 3 other Texas cities don't? Huh?

I'm surprised that you're surprised that Pensacola made the list because it's a military town. Pensacola is home to five Superfund sites, one of which is Pensacola NAS. Whiting Field in next-door Santa Rosa County is also a Superfund site. Military bases aren't exactly known for being environmentally sensitive.

It seems like your last statement is a reflection of the past, not the present. It seems like the bigger threat to a city's water supply would be corporate dumping, big oil's presence (Houston), or drought and farming threats (California, Nevada)...
