I don't see that they would be one of the worst unless they are using very high marks as the bench mark. It is surprising how bad the air rates there. It is where I looked it up a 22 out of a 100.

It's the years and years of heavy industry injecting waste into the aquifer. Like I said before, Pensacola has five Superfund sites. Also, the huge military presence means constant jet fuel, etc. plus a history of dumping. I'm sure Jacksonville is the same. Pensacola also has current industry that is very polluting including a paper plant and several chemical plants.

It isn't so much the water plants but the quality of the water you are starting out with. Unfortunately, Pensacola is a hotbed of underground pollution. And even more unfortunately, most of the people living there either ignore it or just choose not to acknowledge it.

Default Pensacola's water

I just received a Environmental Worker's Group Report on the water condition in Pensacola. It gives the reason for the pollution, what chemicals are there and what they do to you health-wise. It is an excellent website and report. I would never live in Pensacola, but I would live in Gulf Breeze. I checked their water and it is good. I will still buy a good under the counter filter system, though. If you want to check out EWG, just go to their website and you will find a cosmetic database and several other great databases there. I trust them because they do tests that no one else will do. Hope this helps.

It is terrible for America's reputation to have a number of cities with bad quality tap water...
People should accept higher price & whatever it takes , for top quality water...

There is not much many cities can do. They have water treatment plants but once the water leaves there it flows often through 50 year old pipes. No city has the money to replace a whole water system.

Yesterday I noticed my water is cloudy and is still cloudy today. Would having a filter system under the sink help?

Testing it to find out why it's cloudy is a more important first step.

Some impurities aren't handled by sink-based filtration and require more extensive whole house systems.

None of my out of state visitors drink the tap water in Tampa. So it must be a lot worse than where they live. They think the tap water in Tampa is nasty.
