I live in a nice 55+ gated community, so I guess that has a lot to do with the activities part. Never a shortage of things to do here regardless of the season.
I just bought in central Fl in late Aug. I hope to have the same opinions as you as time goes on. So much to do.

I think that you will enjoy Florida (particularly active retirement communities) if you like to do things. Some communities even welcome people from other communities, particularly in competitive activities such as golf, softball, pickleball, etc. Most golf courses welcome outside play even just for casual rounds.

I left Florida once to go to back to Missouri, after graduating from college in Florida....what was I thinking?

My Father said he could help me land a job using his connections, but the recession had other ideas.

It took me 5 years to get back to Florida from Missouri, but then...

I left Forida a 2nd time when I got a promotion to...wait for it...Columbus, Ohio

Columbus must be Italian for "land of no Sun" what a cloudy, muddy, dreary existence. I lasted 1 yr there, then off to ATL.

25 years later, I got back to Florida again...which is where I plan to stay this time...no more leaving.

I'll do a couple of months up North each Summer, but otherwise, I'm staying put in FLA.

No more chasing Dollars.
