Unusually warm weather is probably part of the problem. Greens don't like it.

At least from my experience.

Publix can be very hit or miss depending on area served. When I lived in Baldwin Park in Orlando, I could find all sorts of goodies there, including a decent variety of ethnic items, a fairly large seafood counter, LOTS of organic meats and produce, etc.
About 45 minutes NW of there in Eustis/Mount Dora, the difference is night and day in terms of stock and variety. The Publix in East Lake in North Pinellas is about in between. Not quite as good as the Baldwin Publix, but not as bad as the ones in Eustis/Mount Dora.
No, I have not tried the bagged one, but I have from Publix maybe once. And the bunches are small in the bags, and I can one in one sitting. I eat a lot of salad once a day, so I always look for a big bunch and get a couple of them. I will check at Sprouts when I go there for their yellow beets. Hard to find them loose very often anywhere else.

Well, if Sprouts doesn’t work, only other place I’d suggest is a direct local farmer. That’s about as good as it gets for grocery store fresh produce in my experience in Florida. If you’re in the Orlando or Jacksonville area, you might have some decent luck with Freshfields Farm, depending on season.
