"Florida ocean temperature topped 100F"
"The surface temperature of seawater at the tip of Florida has hit hot tub levels, exceeding 37.8C (100F)"
...on and on

this is all a flat out lie....the temp was measured in Manatee Bay...not the ocean...or even on the ocean side

Manatee Bay is the extreme north shore of Barnes Sound...south end of Biscayne Bay...it is no where near the ocean

...very shallow and almost completely land locked

not only are they lying about it being ocean temperature....the 9 other temp gages around it did not record anything even close to that

...a sensible person would be saying.....your temp gage needs to be recalibrated

as of right now....the surface water temp in Manatee Bay is 87F > https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_pa...?station=mnbf1
Apples to apples, oranges to oranges, I think.

Where in that area is the "ocean water" normally monitored for temperature? If those gauges are normally the ones used to give the temperature of the nearby ocean waters, then it's a valid indicator of a "high."

But nonetheless, the article is speaking about damage to the coral reefs along the southern Florida coastline (that they are seeing evidence of damage and death of corals), so the Bay gauges would be valid, I'd think.

This is not good news. The Gulf temp has been rising for a few years, just a bit. But "just a bit" is a lot. Enough to cause more hurricanes and stronger hurricanes. It will get worse.

The Bay temp is in keeping with the temp measurements in other areas, as well as the effects we're seeing.

It's a Lagoon within a Bay. Not ocean. I had to correct 3 people on this that had fallen for the media spin. Too many people believe what they hear, even though most of it is not 100% accurate.

Florida's winning in so many ways, & taking Billions of Dollars from other states, that the media hates Florida for its success. Thus, they attack the state, its people, & its leaders, in every way possible.

because they are not the ones used to measure ocean temperature

now ask yourself....how do we know the real sea surface temp.....the one on the real ocean side

This map from tropical tidbits shows that ocean temperatures off the coast of Florida are higher than normal, but not so much above average as the coastal waters stretching from PNW to SE AK. It also shows the huge swath of El Nino warm water off the coast of S. America.

It's BS. Here in Southwest Florida in 2020, 2021 I remember the water temps were warmer. Venice Peir the last few summers would get up to 92 sometimes. This summer hasn't even reached 90 yet.
