They also used to hire a bunch of foreign college kids to help fill the labor gaps. There was a temporary covid era halt on H-2B visas during the pandemic that hurt a lot of businesses that relied on them, and even though the H-2B visas are being issued again, a lot of the seasonal labor pipeline- typically Brazilian or Romanian or such college kids looking to spend some time in the USA boosting English language skills while making a bit of money- seems to be slow to refill.
This ^^

It's probably pretty difficult to blow happy bubbles up your rear end when wondering how they plan to pay rent, make a car payment and eat...all of which have gone up insane percentages the past couple years while COL raises (if at all) have done zilch to address it.

As for the restaurants, the good restaurants in Orlando aren’t really found in the tourist areas, aside from Victoria & Alberts, for which you need reservations.

Orlando has plenty of solid options — you just have to go where people actually live — not around Disney.

It took nearly 2 hrs and an act of congress to get this issue resolved - An issue that should've never occurred in the first place.

Also to further illustrate my point, we were given those offers from Disney AND we were directly escorted by management to the front of the line to the Pandora ride. No one in good faith can claim that this is typical protocol by Disney or any other company when a customer was wronged...it isn't...they screwed up! And ran into someone who wouldn't tolerate it.

In regards to the overzealous cast members who denied us entry on bogus information, we got their names and the city they're from (in case they shared the same name with another employee) filed a complaint to Disney guest relations and called corporate...there will be some sort of disciplinary action taken.

You seem so proud that you got special treatment by the WDW management.

Hah!

You received a "nuisance value" bag of goodies. They make an estimate of how much it will take to turn your "frown" upside down.

It's the squeaky wheel management style. Also works with lawyers who present nuisance suits. Throw some crumbs that don't really matter to us, and he'll go away feeling good.

You are insistent that WDW management agreed that you were right and their employees were wrong. Dude, nobody but you cares if you were right or wrong.

I've worked with large corporations who have a public facing side. It was always a joke amongst us about customers who picked a fight with us and then went away when we tossed some freebies his way.

You are not the first person to get some goodies from WDW and the guys at WDW have already forgotten everything about you. They are not having a lunch conversation about how you were right and they are not firing their staff based on your allegations.

All entertainment venues deal with complaints that way, when it starts to get too expensive they will reduce the value of the freebies you get for complaining. I worked in management at a major entertainment/dining complex in the early 80's and people would make some kind of complaint and we would comp them with a dinner for their entire party, after awhile the number of complaints had risen significantly so management changed the 'prize' for complaining to an assorted bag of bakery goods. Complaints dropped by about 90% almost overnight. I'm not saying this is what happened to you, I'm just explaining that they probably encounter complaints similar to yours several times a day and deal with most if not all of those complaints with comps.

After reading your second post I'm starting to think you get confused quite a bit in life. Username certainly checks out...

Big man picking on a cast member trying to get them fired AFTER getting freebies from the company.

Yup you acted like a real prick.
Going to report this post too because I told the truth on.how you acted? You couldnt let things be well enough. You just HAD to go after someone's job now huh?

Typical bully reaction. Can bully some 16 year old cast member but when called out on that behavior goes crying for help.

You may be the smartest person in the thread…just avoid the mouse and do something else with your money.

You’ll most likely be less sweaty, won’t have achy feet, and you may be appreciated more for choosing to spend your money there.

I'm really not grasping the issue here. All the rides have signs that say "You must be at least this tall to ride." Your son is either tall enough or he isn't. Paperwork from the pediatrician should have no bearing on this; all that needs to be done is to stand him up by the sign and see if he clears it or not. What did the managers do that the cast member didn't?

I'm guessing here, but it sounds like your son was right on the line, and the cast member made a judgment call to deny him entry. And then you complained, and the managers came, and they made a judgment call to let him on the ride. What else needs to be done? Why did they feel the need to give you extra freebies?

Judging by your tone throughout this thread, I am quite certain that they gave you these things just to shut you up and make you go away. I have enough experience with South Florida (lived there for six years, plus many summers while growing up) to know the kind of people that inhabit that place, and you sound very much like that type. You'd be doing yourself, and Disney, a favor if you keep your entertainment dollars in Miami going forward.
