I prefer the East coast mainly for proximity to I95 and the turnpike. I've driven a few times to Michigan and love the easy access.

The advantage to living further south in Florida, as opposed to the panhandle area, is that if you are on west coast or east coast, it is pretty easy to meet up with friends on the opposite coast. Y'all can meet in the middle or take turns on whose side you meet up at.
