We moved from Dallas to SW Florida this year. We got tired of 105 degree summers, cracks in the ground big enough to swallow small birds, and lows not dropping below 80 in the summer. We got tired of ice storms and northers that drops the temps 40 degrees in a matter of hours down to 15 degrees.

Is Florida hot? It was in the 90s this summer, and humid. But Dallas is humid as well, and Houston is worse as there are breezes across the Florida peninsula whereas Dallas and Houston can get stagnant air patterns.

But we love Florida. We are closing on the sale of our home in Texas this week and have no intention. Don't get me wrong. Texas is a great state and if you want to start a business, advance a career, etc, go to Texas. But Florida is also a great place, and job growth has started again, and it will continue to attract all age groups.

It was NYC. Not a common event there. When the buses are stuck in snow you know it was a bad storm.
It was part my fault. The weather people advised us to get home from work early as the snow was going to start early and continue all evening. We left my offices about 4 pm and hit a bar for a
few before heading home. A few ended about 1130p or so. By then the damage was done.

Move to California if you want warm weather plus any semblance of a career that doesn't involve a cash register.

And the outrageously hyper-inflated property market that comes with it.

My ass. California, particularly southern California, has a far worse unemployment crisis than Florida does right now.

Amazing, I've lived and worked in Florida for close to 40 years, and never had a career that involved any semblence of a cash register. Same goes for my husband, children, and other people I know.
