The Fayetteville MLK site has been sparkling clean the few times I've been there.

In-N-Out not so much, I only do take-out. There's one 10 minutes from my N TX home that isn't worth that short drive. Burgers, service, and cleanliness all fall short. I was a fan of the franchise when visiting CA and was really excited to see one coming. Big letdown.
This shows how subjective food can be. I have heard people say In and Out fries are not very good and heard people claim there are better burgers, which if you want to pay this is true and I have heard some say, they do not like the lack of variety, but never have I heard anyone say the franchises are not consistent. In fact I have heard the opposite. BTW we have had them all over Ca, Vegas and yes, Dallas. I always am impressed with the cleanliness of both What a burger and IN&Out.

That is too bad that the restaurant in your area is a letdown especially since consistancy is how In N Out built their brand which BTW are all owned by the original owners grandaughter. There are no franchises.

I would take that input with a grain of salt regarding In 'n Out Burger - their quality has always been good at every In 'n Out Burger we've ever gone to. Period.

In any "gourmet hamburgers" discussion in TX, W-a-B is usually heavily mentioned.

I've only eaten In-n-Out in CA Bay area and in N TX. My experience was the CA locations were excellent, the N TX (Frisco, Rockwall) not at all. Your experience is obviously different.

That is very true and they are very particular about the quality for the money.

I seldom eat burgers, usually order salads or chicken so I'll concede the point but I'm not alone in thinking that In-N-Out suffers in quality outside of CA. That said, it's not like there's any kind of consensus nor need there be on either Whataburger or In-N-Out.
In-N-Out Burger Frisco

The word "gourmet" and What-A-Burger don't even belong in the same sentence. They are pretty much in the same league with McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's. Thirty years ago Wendy's made a good burger, but after Dave Thomas sold out it's been down hill for quality ever since.

Have to agree: you don't get anything close to gourmet for the price you pay for What-A-Burger. They are just one of the better budget burgers.

Not gourmet but sure as hell better than the three crappy chains you just mentioned. Some people are getting a little out of line here with the hyperbole.
