Interesting how our tastes are all over the place: we had a small cocktail or wine tasting party last Friday night and there were 3 people from Texas here. One said he loved Whataburger until he had a chance to have an IN&Out burger (he is a retired pilot and has traveled all over) From then on he would go almost anywhere just for IN&Out, but isn't crazy over Whataburger. Another couple can't wait to have a Whataburger. They are not actually from Texas, but lived there for many years. The last person, didn't like Whataburger and had never heard of In&Out.

I guess I could even wait for the Springdale location to open up for that matter.
I've seen that "crowd goes wild" phenomenon when a chain opens a new location.

I live in an outlying area where it was a few years before any fast-food joints showed up. The day Taco Bell opened "out here", they were lined up till the store was packed and people were sitting up to one hour in the drive-through. One night after things calmed down I went into the restaurant and they had to lock the doors because they were running out of food.

Many years earlier in another area, Krispy Kreme opened a store; they had cops directing traffic and the employees were giving free donuts to everyone in line.

I remember one cop looked so downcast because (he said) he hadn't had a donut yet.

Hope you finally got your burger.

I have found What-A Burger burgers to be salty compared to In-n-Out. I would take In-N-Out burgers over What-A-Burger. There is another burger joint called Habit Burger Grill in California that is better than both them.

I would however, take What-A-Burger over McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's.

My experiences with In-N-Out have been that the franchises vary widely in consistency. Some are excellent, others are mediocre. What-A-Burger consistently delivers a dependable product. I'm not particularly a fan of their burgers but I appreciate the cleanliness of their restaurants and don't mind eating in one (I usually order a salad or chicken strips). The Fayetteville MLK site has been sparkling clean the few times I've been there.

In-N-Out not so much, I only do take-out. There's one 10 minutes from my N TX home that isn't worth that short drive. Burgers, service, and cleanliness all fall short. I was a fan of the franchise when visiting CA and was really excited to see one coming. Big letdown.
