I guess my comment was fairly insensitve. Hope I didn't **** anybody off. Just my opinion. Mexican food rocks, Puerto Rican, not so much.

Back on topic, a Puerto Rican restaurant is having their grand opening on January 29th. It is located at Montwood and Lee Trevino. It was previously a PR restaurant several years ago before some management changes. It is in the same building as the Big 8 but faces Montwood. It is next to a barber shop and a dry cleaners.

I just went there, to the Puerto Rican restaurant this past weekend. It's called Carlito's Way Puerto Rico Restaurant. I'm very disappointed with the food. Nothing like it was before. I understand it might be under different management but still. The food was horrible.
They had no yellow rice. The white rice was undercooked. The beans tasted like they came out of a can. They had no salsa, only pico de gallo. The pork was tastless, the meat had a weird taste. The chicken was alright. They didn't give us bread either.
I was online looking to see if the restaurant had a website when I came across this site. I just had to post my opinion. I really hope they succeed, but their food was so bland. I don't know if it's the management's fault or the cook's fault, but I wish it was the same as the PR restaurant that was there before. We used to go all the time.
I don't think I'll be going back to this new place, maybe later this year to see if they changed their menu.

Thanks for the review. I might wait a week or two and then give it a try.

I went there this past wkend; and the place needs a major re-do; in a sense that it needs some decor and better lighting to spice things up; as far as the food, it's not great but it's decent ...

Mercedes Food Wagon is horrible, everything about it is bad, my husband and I had a horrible experience there. It took forever to get our food, the place was dirty, food was cold, I got my food first and my husband got his like 15 minutes later...the other customers did not look happy either, and they did not have coconut fish which is a very typical caribbean dish..The PUerto Rican place was alright, they need to improve...the place was too dark, they are so cheap that didn't care to turn the AC on when it was super hot.

hmmmm i visited Mercedes and their menu was very limited... they only sell Mofongo on Wednesday's.... so i'll stick to home cooking or Carlitos Way... however Carlitos Way does take a long time to cook any fish products... seems they either have to wait for the fish to defrost or have to go get it from the Big 8 next door...
