I remember at least two Piggly Wigglys in El Paso... one on Gateway East, and another on McRae. I recall them having a corner with toys at the Gateway East location (@Hunter).

What is the grocery store chain in El Paso (aside from WalMart/Target/Sams Club/Costco) since HEB is out of market in West Texas?

When I was living in El Paso in the early 2000s, I used to live right next to a "Big 8" grocery store. It was like a super value grocery store. There were a few scattered throughout town. I don't know if that chain still exists, it has been so long since I have been back there.

But to answer your main question, Albertsons is the major grocery chain in El Paso. Albertsons was too exspensive for me, so I shopped at Big 8 instead.

Piggly Wiggly was the anchor tenant at Sunrise Shopping Center. We shopped there for years. I think it later became Food Mart.
