I've had six dogs and two cats living with me at one point. Currently just two dogs. I didn't intend to have so many animals but circumstances were such that it was either with me or the pound (for the dogs) or being feral kittens for the cats.

I think two dogs are my limit now. I will of course make an exception if needed.

Ideally, I have dogs spaced five years apart, which means about three dogs at a time. A couple of years ago I had four, but two were the same age and they died within a year of each other, to be replaced by one puppy, so I am currently at three dogs, an eleven year old, a six year old and a puppy who is one and a half.

I currently have one dog. It's enough for me. I had a dog and a cat for a long time, but after my cat passed away I've decided one pet is plenty. I fostered an additional dog once for a weekend and it was so stressful.

How did you end up with that many? Were they working dogs?

The most we've had at once is three, just after we met and got married we joined my two basenji's with his golden mix.

Last year we adopted a pair one chi and one terrier mix. Gawd we love these two!

That's puppy mill territory.

So. How many dogs do you have? Are they your only pet?

I have a dog and a cat.
We had 6 dogs and two cats at one point, probably for 3 or 4 years before we lost the oldest dog.
