Explains why I didn't know where it was. Last time we were in that section of town was 2 years ago when we took I-74 to Indianapolis for our niece's wedding. And that was probably 5 years after I took my last flight out of CVG.

Default Gotta give it to Jeff Ruby

We took my Mother-in-law to Home - Jeff Ruby's Carlo & Johnny for her 90th Birthday Friday night. The meal and the service was as good, or better, than any of the 5 Star Restaurants that we have dined at anywhere in the US or Europe.

It was outrageously expensive but worth every penny. The six of is ate a wide variety of entrées from veal and beef steaks to seafood. All were prepared to perfection. The appetizers, large sides and deserts were what dreams are made of.

The waiter and staff made Mom feel like a Queen.

We've eaten at The Precinct several times, Jeff Ruby's at the casino (which was always covered by the house because of a few high-roller friends), The Waterfront (that our waiter said will be re-opening soon as well as Bootsy's (which we loved--it was a New York, Chicago or San Francisco restaurant the Cincy people didn't get) and his home-style cooking place that replaced Bootsy's (that we were not crazy about)

Every one of them always offered excellent food and service. But the physical atmosphere of the historical mansion makes Carlos and Johnny's our new favorite eatery that Jeff owns. It is not an every week, month or maybe year restarauant for us, but we will be back!

(All of the siblings are taking Mom to The Golden Lamb tomorrow. See: https://www.city-data.com/forum/cinci...amb-since.html)

mike1003 ...

When you say Ruby's at the casino are you referring to Belterra? Belterra is one of my favorite places although I never go there to gamble. I go to play golf, dine, enjoy the spa, etc. I have maybe gambled twice in my life in a casino, highly preferring to actually receive something for my money.

Carlo and Johnny's is located at the place the wife and I had our wedding reception now 51 years ago, except back then it was called The Fox & The Crow.

We certainly want to receive a report on your Golden Lamb experience.

When the Waterfront first opened my company had been bought out by the Japanese. When they came to visit we would take them to the Waterfront. They would go absolutely beserk over the seafood bar. Once we got to the steaks it was beserk again. We had a tough time trying to convince them to go anyplace else, it was always the Waterfront. Having made many trips to Japan I can understand why. They can rave all they want about the Kobe beef in Japan, but a Jeff Ruby aged steak beats it sideways.
