Fo Fo the Bo was a food coop located on Mt. Lookout Square in the early 70's - used to eat there all the time. Fabulous when it first opened. Especially loved the oriental salad dressing. Sadly as the "particpants" changed over time it went downhill and closed.

My younger brother George was one of the owner/founders.

After this he went to the Sonesta Hotel restaurant in Key Biscayne, FL.
Then he went to the Sonesta in Amsterdam, Holland.
Finally he worked at the Okura (Tokyo is rated one of the 10 best hotels in the world), executive dinning room of Royal Dutch Shell, etc.

Stories or photos of Fo Fo The Bo can be posted at the Facebook group with that name.

Fo Fo the Bo! Used to eat there in the 70's and have fond memories of the restaurant. I still make a carrot cake recipe that I believe is from their menu.

I was one of the original 12...we opened at Mt. Lookout Square in June of 1973. Gary Schwartz was the primary partner...the rest of us were considered partners. A second Cafe opened on Vine St. a few years later. To the sibling of George (can't remember his last name, but was partnered with Barb), next time you see him ask if he remembers our attempt to get his ear pierced with booze, a frozen potato and a needle!!

I remember it. Was it related somehow to another restaurant called Seventh Heaven? My sister worked there short time in the 1970's.

I used to order the brown rice with steamed vegetables and pour on the sesame seeds!
