Excellent news.

Project could bring apartments, offices and more to southern Travis County

The article highlighted a lot of positives and gives a glowing forecast for this area. This area may become the major southern node for employment much like those we currently have up north in Williamson County.

Adding my post onto this thread.

Wow this looks like an exceptional project. I love the design images in the brochure.

Funny thing is, this is where I first thought they were going to place the F1 track because the location made good business sense..I hope this creates a job base for those in Hays and Buda to get cars off Brodie/35/Mopac.

Similar comments were made at the end of the Formula 1 articles on the statesman.com.

Probably because the majority of people in the Austin Metro have thrown in their chips in with W/NW Travis County, and Williamson County, so it irks them when they see these types of development in S/SE Travis County

What I'm afraid of, is when these developments come to pass, and the attitudes still remain.
If international media starts catching hold of the 50's segregation era mantra: "don't go east of 35 (there's minorities over there)" Austin is going to look like a village full of redneck bigots in front of a global audience.

Statesman articles almost always draw a lot of negative comments from anti-growth idiots. They don't realize that the growth is going to happen regardless. This is a huge positive step in the right direction for Austin, more walkable neighborhoods where you can live close to where you work.
