Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive car insurance company out that way? I'll soon be moving from San Diego where I have Wawanesa Insurance. They're great and half the cost of the big name companies. Unfortunately, they're only on the west coast. Thanks.

We switched from State Farm to Farmers and the rates were very good.

There are so many variables (age, gender, driving history, vehicle, miles driven per day and so on) . . . . I use USAA but you have to be an active duty servicmember to sign up but they do offer the best rates and provide the best service. I would like to warn you that if you are moving to Austin you can expect to have higher rates. Austin is known for their traffic issues and as a result rates will be higher. For example instead of an accident counting as one point it counts as three. Ouch! You can try going through a broker who can shop several companies saving you time and energy or you can spend some phone time getting quotes.

We are in our 50's in a small East Texas town and insure an Acura MDX and a 3/4 ton Ford pickup with Allstate. Our premiums are abt $640 every 6 months for both with full coverage. Big city insurance is a lot higher but I have no basis for that.
