It must be slow in the illegal immigration forum if you are here. Im pretty sure the good people in Mexico would not want you there anyways.

WHAT???
(The city in question is Acupulco. It didn't transfer with the quote).

Is that why nobody said Cabo or Puerto Vallarta?

Puerto Vallarta is fine, Cabo is not.
And according to Google maps, there is no "Acupulco" existing in Mexico.

It is shocking to me that people are so afraid of Mexico.
I can understand being afraid of using the restrooms in certain areas due to sanitation issues.

There are plenty of scary places in America.
A bit of situational awareness with common sense goes a long way where ever you are.

Go to Copan in Honduras. Much more in the jungle so lots more shade, plus fraction of the tourist crowds compared to Mexico sites or Tikal.

This is just so hard! I am always dreaming of this and so pulled in many directions. I've been to some places I'd like to think I'd like to live and some I have not. I watch a lot of Youtubers who are doing this and one of my fave you should check out is Tangerine Travelers, they get around there!

My problem is my husband has a home there in his hometown(Michoacan) and I love his town and all but it is so rural! I feel I don't enjoy myself as much of what I enjoy there but the allure of not having to worry financially this home is owned and beautiful and his area is very cheap of utilities and food. No tourism whatsoeever!

Where I have been and can see myself living there:
Mazatlan
Leon
Aguascalientes-I love it there! And my Grandma is from there and still has family there
Guadalajara
Tijuana, Ensanada, still love these parts!

Where I haven't been but think I'd love:
Puerto Escondido
Merida
Hualtuco
Mexico City!!! I wish...
Puebla

We've met so many people here (GDL) that have lived in Merida and moved because they got sick of the heat.

By all accounts Merida is a nice safe city with friendly locals and lots to do, but with so much of Mexico having weather where it's comfortable to be outside almost the entire year they just got tired of it and chased the higher altitudes.
