Rolled my own and headed to the range today.

Cracked off a hundred or so rounds today at the range. I dialed my .308 with both 168 Sierra Matchkings and 165 Gamekings. I can use 44 gr IMR4064 and get similar poi and velocity. That'll be a great mid-range deer gun and steel plinker.

Bottom hole was my errant 6.5CM round..

This is how finicky my 6.5 'Needmore' is.

That mess at the lower part of the target was an attempt aiming at the bullseye. 42.7gr H4350. Next 5 rounds were .3gr higher at 43.0 grs and that was my aiming at the box. I've found this rifle to be very finicky with reloads.

I've got to find some more Gamekings for my .308 for this fall. Yikes.

Hey Norty! That .308 was reloaded with those old Federal primers I got from you. Not bad for possibly 50 year old blast caps! Now I've got enough primers, brass and powder for years!

I was gonna snag em but couldn't get away from work long enough. I also don't want to be greedy as I am fully stocked.

Today, I went to our local sporting good chain store to see what they had... Left since I came two hours AFTER they received their weekly allotment of ammo.

The only thing they had left was 20rd boxes of 5.56mm Winchester White Box, 55 grain FMJs for $26 a box, which is beyond crazy since it breaks down to $1.30 a round for basic ammunition. Not surprising, but the shelf was still completely full.

The SAME Winchester ammo is still being sold at one of the few remaining Ma and Pa gun stores in my area at $14 a box, which is reasonable, in today’s market. The only issue is that you are limited to 2 boxes/40 rounds a day.

Earlier this week, at a different chain sporting good store, I was able to get four 50rd boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm, 124 grain FMJs for $19 a box... Again, not too bad in today’s market and in my area.

The cheapest .45acp I’ve seen lately has been Blazer Brass FMJ, 230 grain for $34 a box, which sucks.

I’ve been stocking up on ammo since 2012 and I’m doing good, I’m basically buying ammo to replace what I’m shooting. On a positive note, several of my shockingly liberal family members have bought their first firearms, so I’m assisting them with ammo at the range since I’m showing them how to shoot and basic gun safety.

“I” don’t see the ammunition situation getting better in my area, the Pacific Northwest, for the near future or until possibly mid/late 2022.

Also, “I” think the days of $10-$11 for a box of basic FMJs 9mm are long gone and IMHO, $15-$18 will be the new norm.

the higher prices will cause me to shoot 50% less and less range trips to make up for the increase in prices

less time & money for ammo and more time with my other hobbies, more time on the road riding electric scooters, biking, walking , hiking, other outdoor activities.

The basic price in my area had been $15-$19 for many years. I'd like to see those prices again.
