The 234 to 257 was the increase back in August. The increase for the renewal Feb.1 is 260.
260-257 = 3/257 = 1.16%

We did and we are going to stay with Allstate for $698 compared to last year's $640. We'll shop around more aggressively next year.

I think my 2 claims for road side assistance is having an influence when I go shopping at renewel time for car insurance. I am with Progressive, the 2 claims for roadside have not reflected in my pricing with them when I renewed twice with them. However when I shop around everyone even the cheap ones like State Farm or Geico can't come close anymore to Progressive and I think its because of the 2 claims I for roadside assistance. It used to be fairly close to each other all the time with the companies.

So I am thinking about dropping roadside assistance with Progressive and coughing up the money for Triple AAA cause one more claim could make Progressive raise my rates.

You're right. Any claim would have an effect when you shop with other carriers.

Even a not-at-fault accident on your record will eliminate any loss free discount that you might normally get when you shop with other carriers.

I just dropped my roadside assistance with Progressive. Was only 20 bucks a year for 2 cars. Not worth the potential price hike if I have one more claim.

If you want to price shop, go find an independent agent that contract out to more than one insurance companies. Ask them for a quote. They will let you know which companies have the best rates. And then compare them to the captive insurance agents like Farmers, State Farm, Allstate, etc...then pick the rate that fits your needs and budget. I often find Nationwide and American National to be the most competitive in my area. With that said, I have all my coverage max out minus the Umbrella Policy.

That's the strategy I have been using for 40 years. I've written my insurance through independent agents and with direct writers. I check rates every year. I don't jump ship for chump change, only if there is a significant difference in rates.

Got my renew notice from Progressive. Went down 3 dollars!!

Went and checked the highest rated competition yesterday, Amica. They wanted 1400-1500 I forgot the exact amount as opposed to 629.00 from Progressive.

No body touches Progressive's prices for me.

Even the window replacement which under Florida law is “for free” under your insurance if it is like a small dent due to the construction little stones, etc. Will cause your premium to go up even though insurances will deny that.
