What project(s) could you see, or are confirmed to be coming to the medical district that would guarantee more success for this thriving part of DT Augusta?

The Cancer Research building is under construction. I rode past Gilbert Manor a couple of weeks ago. There were probably 4 buildings left to be demolished. School of Dentistry, Educational Commons, and School of Medicine. Confirmed on the Gilbert Manor site.

Charleston has a pretty big medical complex too, as well as Birmingham, AL.. Duke University Medical Center in Durhmam is also very well respected. Not sure any one city has "Medical Capital of the Southeast" all to themselves.

I second that. Just because Augusta is known for its hospital doesnt mean we cant improve and try to bring in more hospitals.

You need patients for more hospitals. It would seem we have more than enough hospitals, certainly more than many metro areas of this size. You have a couple of VA hospitals, Eisenhower Army medical center, MCG, University, St Joseph (or whatever they are calling it now) and Doctors.. that's a lot of darn hospitals for one area.. and Doctors just expanded witha new building.

Augusta doesn't need anymore hospitals really. MCG, Trinity, VA, Eisenhower, University, and Doctors. MCG, University, and Doctors are all expanding. Plus there are more hospitals in the suburbs of Augusta.

The city wants to build a St. Sebastian research park. After the St. Sebastian project is completed in summer 2010.
