Augusta University's College of Science and Mathematics has found a new home. Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon to celebrate the new building that moved from the Summerville Campus to the Health Sciences Campus.

The state of Georgia invested $60 million into the $70 million project, which features four stories with 22 teaching labs, a tutoring center, more than 80 faculty offices and a top floor dedicated to research. Right now the first three floors are fully operational and the fourth is expected to be completed sometime in 2022.

That project is a 5-story parking deck at Wrightsboro Road and 15th with around 1,300 spaces. It’s a $36 million project. The university expects to break ground on the project in the late fall of 2022. The deck is expected to open by the end of 2023 or early 2024.

I hope they explore utilizing retail at the base and a nice facade on the outside of the deck!

"In a new report from the Department of Veterans Affairs, a committee recommends shutting down services at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center facility downtown.

The VA says it’s not up to standards. The services would be consolidated at the Charlie Norwood uptown facility, which is off Wrightsboro Road."
