So, is the new location as viable?

Also, having a beach in the city would be nice, but if there already an established place that attracts that could be the location for a beach on Onondaga Lake, why not use that location?

Also, there are railroad tracks right next to the lake on its southern end. So, that is something else to consider.

What I mean is that a beach within walking distance to downtown make city life much more attractive and is another tourist attraction for those visiting the mall and inner harbor aquarium etc.

A bridge would need to be built over the train tracks. Then a few acres of the lake would need to be filled to build condos and a beach.

Another simple idea is the have a couple roof top bars and restaurants in downtown with a good view of the city. It could be a tourist attraction during the summer to eat outside with a view.

I see what you are saying. I think the beach would have to be to the SW of the lake, as I believe that there is a sacred point to the east of the creek into the lake and the tracks run east/west. This is likely your best bet, but you would have to consider the proximity to 690:

You could also have a ferry from that point or the Inner Harbor that takes people to a beach at Onondaga Lake Park. That way, you can connect Downtown to a beach at a viable and popular location. There is room to build condos in the Inner Harbor, along with a multi purpose stadium/arena and a SUNY related campus, as initially planned.

Drive Shack is a destination golf driving range chain. Might be a good attraction in the future for Syracuse if we could get it to expand here.

https://www.westbroadvillage.com/

Researching West Broad Village in suburban Richmond, Virginia might be worth it. I'd like to see something similar in the Syracuse area.

Turn SUNY Morrisville into New York State University.

Just like Penn State and Ohio State are placed in the Center of the state, Madison County is roughly the center of New York State.

Increase New York State University in Morrisville enrollment to about 30,000 students and have it focus on creating education for the new economy while still having the agricultural department.

Why, when you already have 4 University campuses already, with three Upstate? Those schools have more potential to get to that enrollment, even though college enrollment has been declining in general.

Plus it would be in a very rural area that doesn’t have direct/nearby highway access.

Lastly, Cornell is the land grant university for the state and has some SUNY academic programs. So, they already fulfill what you are referring to.
