Bakersfield is about to update it's general plan

https://www.bakersfield.com/news/bak...949e2d267.html

Fresno saw largest pay increase in California last year (about 8 percent). Still near the bottom in hourly pay for major cities.
Fresno is slightly above Riverside and slightly below Bakersfield in hourly wages(metro data). Trends show it will be passing Bakersfield up in no time tho. Bakersfield actually saw a drop in wages last year!

Old Vons on Blackstone will likely be converted into a senior living center.

Rent prices have finally dropped in Fresno.
Should go back up by fall

Edit: they're considering converting a large ranch near reedley(Fresno county) into homes and a college. Ranch was used in the cult film 'road house'

Fresno mayor stops the city from serving alcohol well into the morning.
No issue with that. the city just isn't prepared for the consequences. Maybe try again in ten years, when downtown Fresno is more livable.

New development is being built next to calwa. It's considered mixed use, but Fresno leftist don't agree. They say there's too much parking for it to be mixed use. Eh, it looks good to me, and that area needs as much investment as possible. They should be happy.

Top floor of the newest indian casino. I hope they keep building the area up. High end shopping, more restaurants, etc. Even a top golf course wouldn't be a bad idea.

Friant has potential to be an upper scale high class neighborhood in fresno. Has that nice fancy casino, that gated community across it with custom mansions and isnt there a golf course in there already? Millerton lake is there. All the other surrounding developments and homes are still LARGE LOTS with relatively larger tract homes. It also on higher elevation so also gives the more grand feel/vibe.

Many will say and throw out that sprawl crap, but people with money love that and want to be away from dense medium and high density neighborhoods.

I believe that part of friant is still part of Clovis Unified which also can and will keep the prices higher due to being in that school district.

Dont know if high end shopping can sustain even there though. I think the limited amount of higher end brands currently in riverpark and figarden village is already pushing it just based on the fresno county demographics, but you never know in the future

High end shopping could work IF it's built on Indian Land. Tourists could stay at the hotel then walk/drive to the shopping center to receive a nice discount on luxury goods(no sales tax). Rich people love discounts just as much as the rest. Heck, penny pinching is why Fresno JLR is one of the most popular JLR dealers in the nation. Rich people from the coast drive to Fresno to save a few grand on their 150k Land Rover all the time.

There's too much money in sprawl. it's not going away any time soon.

As for luxury goods, you don't have to go after Fresnans to make it work. There's plenty of tourist money driving and flying into the area nowadays. Go after them. they're who you try to entice.

Prices drops in july everywhere except for Kings county and Merced county. Not surprising news there.

New building plan for downtown Fresno. It hasn't been finalized yet. Construction will begin soon, however.
