How can Berkeley possibly be at the bottom of the list?

Intesting list! Of course there could be many such lists, all having these cities in different orders, and changing with time. Liked the positions of Cupertino and Sunnyvale. Mountain View less safe than Palo Alto? That's a first! These are in the south bay; the further north you go toward San Francisco the more unsafe it gets, it seems. Is Monterey (not Monterey Park) anywhere on this list? Not surprising that Santa Cruz is much further toward the bottom, Oakland at the very end of the list. Then there's San Jose, before the "safest big city in the U.S."

Orange county is a wonderfully safe area, has been for as long as I've been here.

Newport and Laguna are ringed by layer upon layer of safe cities. Safest beach living in CA.
Fabulously safe and sterile. Nothing happens, good or bad.

Not so safe if one does not "look like" a typical resident while in those boundaries. Great turf to test the phenomenon of "DWB".

You just had to bring up race, didn't you? Do you think there are no black people in those safest of cities?

There are also cities in the above list where one may not be so safe driving at night as a white person. Does that concern you?

Nope, those places are the squalor that the elites have left to fester. The pasty little Legolands of South OC are where they set up their kingdoms, with their own guards keeping out the "undesirables".

Ask the average San Diegan which was a more dangerous place, Chula Vista or La Mesa, and my guess is 85% would say Chula Vista. Perception versus reality.

We are tanned here in South OC. You must have us confused with pasty Marin county.

By the way, just in case you were unaware, Legoland is in San Diego county.

Legolands are the OC's real estate developers' great gift to the world: Endless new planned communities! See one model, you've seen them all! Safety in homogeneity!

In OC, we have some of the best weather in the country, some of the best beaches in the country, the most popular theme park in the world, the largest convention center on the west coast, a top NHL and MLB team, miles and miles of hiking and biking trails, awesome surf spots, easy access to Catalina island and many other great things to do. Mostly great schools and it's safe out here. Keep hating from....San Jose lol
