Violent crime up 26% in Los Angeles, LAPD chief says - LA Times

Still only at 2010 levels, not '90s levels, but it's still too high.
No way is L.A. safer than Santa Barbara or Santa Monica, unless you're talking about property crime.

Yeah, when I go to visit some of these cities, I can assure you I will not be cowering in fear, or afraid of venturing out.

Safest to least safe
1. Aliso Viejo

174. Oakland

Yep. My daughter and I go there pretty frequently to shop and I have stayed at several hotels downtown. Never had a problem with folks there unlike the almost everyday occurrences with having to deal with shady transients and/or druggies in Redding

Orange county has the most number of cities listed as safest. No surprise.

Orange county is a wonderfully safe area, has been for as long as I've been here.

Newport and Laguna are ringed by layer upon layer of safe cities. Safest beach living in CA.

Hahaha I love it here. Hell, even Santa Ana is freaking safe... complete 180 from the 90's.
