I never been to Williston, or anywhere in North Dakota, for that matter, but I'd venture to guess the state has one of the smallest black populations by percentage points and by actual numbers.
North Dakota always seemed to me like it would be the kind of place where about the only thing most of the white residents know about black people is what they've seen on tv. Because of that, I think most white North Dakotans would be naturally curious about black people and think it would be cool to be around a black person on a daily basis, and maybe even have you among their inner circle of friends.
I bet the vast majority of the white people will go out of their way to make the op feel welcome and treated in a very nice and respectful manner, because, by nature, North Dakotans are genuinely nice people and very considerate of other people's time, situations, and feelings, but also because they don't want any black people thinking they might be racist or prejudiced like the people are in some cities and states. They will probably think you've been discriminated against and treated unfairly thru out your life, because they've seen it on TV.
Of course anything can happen anywhere at anytime, but I honestly don't think you'd have any problems in North Dakota because of your race.
This is just all my opinion. I could be "off-the-charts" wrong, but I doubt it.
