1. Oakville Grocery Co.

City: Healdsburg, CA
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (707) 433-3200
Address: 124 Matheson Street

Description: The Healdsburg location is a branch of the same wonderful gourmet grocery store whose jam-packed shelves in the Napa Valley have attracted passersby for decades. The Healdsburg location has metamorphosed into a gentrified, glossy emporium of most everything gourmet and delicious. Here you can stock your kitchen pantry with exotic mustards, duck pâté, caviar, Greek olives, and more. You can eat lunch here too, selecting salads, sandwiches, and yummy desserts to be eaten under umbrellas on the sun-drenched patio.

Telephone: (707) 433-6243

It may be small but the bolts of fabric are stacked into every crevice and high up on the walls. It’s a great place for quilters looking for unusual small pieces of fabric at reasonable prices.

7. Powell’S Sweet Shoppe

City: Healdsburg, CA
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (707) 431-2784
Address: 322 Center Street

Description: The comparisons to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory are unavoidable, because the movie and its music are in fact playing while you shop. But this store is really about rekindling fond memories of childhood and favorite sweets. The first store opened in Windsor in 2003, followed soon by many others in the region as its popularity reached far and wide. I guarantee you will find candy you once coveted but haven’t seen in years. Maybe that’s not such a good thing for your dental work, but your heart will leap with joy.

8. Jimtown Store

City: Healdsburg, CA
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (707) 433-1212
Address: 6706 Highway 128

Description: Not only can you find American antiques, folk art, and primitives here, you can also have some “real food” (as they advertise) and a truly good cup of coffee. Owner/artist Carrie Brown started this store in 1989 with her late husband, John, and it’s only gotten more popular with time. Built more than 100 years ago, the building was once a general store and post office. Carrie makes her own line of condiments, and the lunch selections are terrific, and reasonable, too. Look for the yellow building with one or two vintage automobiles parked outside.
