Description: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reports a New Mexico membership of 64,872 in 2009. This Albuquerque temple, set on over eight acres in the Northeast Heights, is the first Mormon church in the state and the 73rd operating temple. Its opening dedication was in spring 2000, and it serves a congregation from across New Mexico and southern Colorado. The church’s missionary work among New Mexico’s Native Americans began in the 1860s. There are Native American and Spanish sessions here, and clothing rental is available.

Description: The home of Albuquerque’s Reform community, Congregation Albert was founded in 1897 and is Albuquerque’s first synagogue and the oldest ongoing Jewish organization in the state. Congregation Albert moved to its current location in 1984 and is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism. A variety of formal and more informal worship services and gatherings is offered, as well as a busy schedule of events, classes, groups, and music activities. The Early Childhood Center offers prekindergarten and kindergarten education, plus daily programs for younger children and a Tot Shabbat Playgroup.

Description: First Presbyterian Church had a congregation of over 1,000 in 2008. The church dates back to the mission of Dr. Sheldon Jackson in 1880, which led to the building of the original church on Fifth and Silver. That church went through several rounds of reconstruction to enlarge it for the growing congregation and to repair it after fire destruction in 1938. The church moved in 1954 to the current address. The church organ, with over 3,000 pipes, is one of the largest in the state. Two Sunday morning services are held here, plus Sunday school.
