I drove through there today and was wondering if this project is in limbo. Does anyone know? Is there a problem with the funding, the Pennies for Progress program?

Here's the website for Pennies for Progress. I do know they have shuffled projects due to the estimates they received at the time for work was estimated before Hurricane Katrina occurred and the fact that the cost of oil has grown significantly. So projects are costing a lot more to start/finish.

HELLO! Pennies for Progress is a York County program to build/improve roads in York County only. The intersection of 521 and 160 is in Lancaster County, thus PFP funds are not used on that project. I drive through the intersection several times a day and see no evidence that the project has been delayed. Today, a crew was rebuilding the stoplights at the intersection.

I was heading towards York County, does that make a difference? Pardon the error.

Agreed. I guess I drove through too late in the afternoon to see the wheels of progress in motion.

Perhaps the area around Barberville Road could also be widened. It sure does back up there a lot when someone turns left off of 160 onto Barberville with so much traffic coming from Fort Mill.

I did live on Highway 160; moved in 2005 due to proposed widening of highway to five lanes from Hy 521 to York County Line ( Sugar Creek). To date the only work that has been done is from Highway 521 to Possum Hollow Road and is is not complete. It is my understanding Lancaster County doesn't have the money to complete, therefore, construction is in phases; Highway 521 to Possum Hollow Road being Phase I.

Hope this enlightens you as to what is going on.

I have property on Highway 160 and have land that is to be purchased when they continue with this project. I have heard nothing to date as to when that will be.
