More specifically Casper. Is there no 10 PM news in the area? So far we have found ABC that has "local news" but that is it. Is that pretty standard for Wyoming?

Because you know the tv lineup is the MOST important thing to learn about your new city.

KTWO (ABC, Channel 2, Casper): 5:30am, Noon, 5:00pm, 6:00pm, 10:00pm
KGWN (CBS, Channel 5, Cheyenne): 5:30am, Noon, 5:30pm, 10:00pm
KCWY (NBC, Channel 13, Casper): 5:30am, Noon, 5:00pm, 6:00pm, 10:00pm

Some newscasts and anchors are better than others, but all are local.

That was weird for us too when we moved here, with our satellite we only get Denver channels. But I have found you can get local news easily through the local paper and radio stations. We have satellite radio in our cars but I do listen to local radio every morning and read the local paper, lots of good info.

I watch the 13 news on the net. It is a day old, but that is because i am in the Asheville, NC area. Wyoming is home and i am trying to get a job to move back.

Q2 in Casper is the only "local" station we get in Gillette with Bresnan. True, some of the reporters & anchors bug me and aren't top notch, but at least it's local news. The other thing is that very seldom is there anything "new" between the morning, noon, 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 news, and sometimes even the next morning! It's kind of like comparing it to watching a soap opera....miss a few days and you haven't really missed out on anything! We also get Rapid City and Denver as our other "local" news stations. It was hard for me to get used to not having Billings news as that's where I moved from. I'd much rather have Billings than Denver being it's closer.

That's a bummer, when I lived in Gillette in the mid 70's we got KTWO live, very professional considering the size of the market plus a couple of Rapid City channels with local news.
I watched the KTWO news and weather every night. The then News Director and anchor Pete Willaims moved on become a top tier national reporter on NBC.

Thanks for the answers gang. Just for clarification, if we get direct tv we will get "local" channels out of Denver?

Having come from the KC market, I am somewhat used to watching up to four or five hours of news a day. It will take some adjustment, that is for sure.

I moved back also, but still get the Atlanta feeds on Direct TV and the local newspapers - yes they still print them - are always my first choice.
