Jackson housing is expensive, but only by wyoming standards. Property values are high, but they have dropped somewhat, although mostly on the high end. Groceries, gas, utilities, cable TV etc. are preiced similarly to the rest of the state. Resturants might be a bit higher than Casper or Cheyenne but not by much, and the selection is great.

Winter is long, cold and snowy, although not so far this year in regards to snow. The building industry took a big hit so construction is down.

Start watching the classified ads and you will get a good idea on prices of rentals. Also the job market.

Jackson is very crowded in the summer, but there is a lot to do. Winter with skiing surprisingly is not very crowded. My criteria for crowded is can I walk into any resturant in town and get seated at 7:00 PM. Usually you can do that all winter.

Like most towns in Wyoming you have to go to a bigger town to do some shopping. Jackson goes to Idaho Falls. Probally saw over 40 county 22 plates on the road to and from, and in Cal store, Sam's Club, Walmart , ans WinnCo parking lots in the City of IF Tuesday.
