RN's can make well over $80k year in WY and MT - it's a better profession than having a MBA - more needed.

Growing season in the mountains is limited by elevation. Sheridan being on the foothills and Gillette on the plains doesn't have that problem.

We have a large potato patch in our Cody garden right now - doing great. The garden is fenced in (deer, wind) and the cool crops do better, but I've grown very good canteloupe. We can't grown corn on our property, and some plants never fully mature in the short growing season. I use wall of waters on the tomatoes and peppers and that works good for me.

It can be rough here at times - weather and isolation.

Well, good to know; my husband has already told me he's sold! Like I had stated previously no use getting a degree in something that isn't going to pay or be of any use.

I know that Darrow said that he's grown some good cantaloupe, are there any other fruits that will grow out there?? I'm in the process of learning how to can and all that good stuff and was wondering if anything like strawberries or blueberries make it out there, because they make great jam!

One more question I know a little about the wildlife that inhabits there, mountain loins, rattle snakes, but I'm curious as the the size and quantity of spiders that you have out there?? My husband says that you guys have nice big ones roaming around out there, so I was curious about that.
Also, isolation doesn't bother me I grew up in the country so am used to it just being the immediate family and the animals.

Hey ehoyle79, where from Indiana are you from? I'm here too and I can definitely relate to what you have been saying about Indiana on this thread. I'm also looking to get out asap. The Midwest is dying due to the economy, I mean at a more alarming rate compared to other states. I've been trying to get to Wyoming for a couple years now, but I'm just waiting for the right opportunity to come up, then I'm out of the Hoosier state and not looking back.

Right now my husband and I are in the "wonderful" Anderson area. Right now I'm in school I think that I'm going to have to change my major to nursing because what I was originally wanting to go to school isn't going to be very profitable out there.
I know that my husband is sold, I grew up in the country and he's really wanting to be out there with no one else around. And with having two kids, I want them to grow up in a safe place.

I have two kids also and that is my objective too. I live in the Northern Indiana area where the unemployment rate up here, leads the nation in a few counties. Crime is definitely on the rise due to the economy but it has always been on the rise. Drugs also, but I know these problems exist in every town, just some states and towns are a lot less than here. Sure I could move my family to a smaller town in Indiana if I wanted, but the Wyoming bug bit me back in 2004 and I've been craving it since. I'm a dreamer alright but it took 36 years to figure out that it is possible for dreams to come true. So it's my objective to make it so. Darn economy is slowing my plans.

I know I'm wanting to get out of here ASAP, but the smart thing is going to be for me to hang out here for the next two years so I can finish my degree, of course when you want something bad it's hard to wait. I'm just picturing the family out fishing, and horseback riding, because that is what I grew up with.

I know exactly what you mean ehoyle. Everyday it goes through my mind. I'm even visiting Wyoming in October this year, I've been waiting for 2 years for this trip, and it's going to hurt when I have to leave that great state and come back to Indiana.
