Hi im a 31 year old guy looking to travel to Yellowstone National Park this coming June or July and I need some help planning my trip.. I want to come out there and hook up with a group of people and do some kind of hiking, or any kind of group just to see the park... but all the overnight hiking trips seem to cost like $750 for like 4 or 5 nights.. seems kind of pricy. Im wondering if anyone has any options I could do to cut down on the costs, any kind of groups you know that meet in the park for anything would be greatly appreciated.

There are free ranger-led hikes in the park, so if you joined those you would be hiking with a group.

Here's this past summer's:

They will come out with a new schedule 2013.

Thanks.. I knew there was but I just wanted to make sure I was with a group.. I also would like to camp overnight a day or 2, do you have to reserve that in advance?

About half of the campgrounds in Y-stone are run by the national park service, are first-come/first-served & don't take reservations. However, it is prudent to get to them in the morning (sometimes very early morning!) to guarantee a site.

The other half of the campgrounds are run by xanterra & do take reservations. Those are great for one's first night in the park so as to have a sure place to stay.

Campgrounds get pretty full peak season!
