It should be 'lying low.' As a commenter points out, if you are 'laying low' you had better be a hen.

And only a duck can lay down.

That's so cute!

No one should be writing professionally if they don't know the past tense of lie. sheesh.

Someone repped for that comment about Laying Down. Can't take credit, it was my 8th Grade English teacher, Mr. Trkulic. Hey, buy a vow! He told that to me at his desk, didn't get it until 10th grade, but I laughed anyway.

He gave it to you and I. aaaargh....

I think it's the public schools and their "don't ruin the kid's self esteem by correcting him" policies.
I don't think that's the case.... A lot of teachers don't understand the rule. My 3rd grade teacher taught us that it should always be "you and I." In high school I figured out how to use it correctly, but I have been corrected by plenty of people who learned it the wrong way.

What about "you and I" and "you and me"?

"I" is a pronoun used as a subject. "Me" is one used as an object. It's actually the same as if you dropped the word "you" and just used "I" or "me" alone.

I went to see him. (You and I went to see him.)

He went to see me. (He went to see you and me).

Nonetheless, as a general rule, people have become more lenient when it comes to this kind of thing when it has come to switching the object and subject form in this context (when it comes to "you and I" versus "you and me") because of the hullabaloo caused by people, who as schoolkids started making mistakes of using one in one form, and then getting corrected mistakenly and using it in another form etc.
