You know what we need in this country, don't you? A Constitutional amendment making spelling errors illegal. That's the way we do things; something isn't working right, make a law!
Yes, and in the spirit of "three strikes and out", we do have to give some leeway for human error. Sometimes typos just happen. However, serial misspellers have to be flagged and dealt with severely if they continue to commit egregious errors.

I was just reading a thread where a poster asking about real estate kept writing "realitor." Not just a typo, it was every time. I don't claim to be perfect, but there are some things that just grate on one's nerves.

And that's probably how they SAY it, too. I think the same was probably the case with the one I saw wherein the poster kept using the term "imput". That's probably how she said it!
I am a terrible speller. I love spellcheck for that reason.
Confession here - I could NOT spell the words "question" and "answer" until I was in 7th grade. Every test in grade school just had Q and A. I actually thought that was how the words were spelled.
That explains it then!
