Maybe it's that "added additional" is redundant. It could have read "The singer added dates to his tour". Or "added more dates". Still, not such a terrible sin written as is.

Yes, that is redundant, but, compared to so many other errors that I see daily in newspapers and on signs, this one seems rather minor. However, sayulita is correct, and something like, "added extra dates", would have been preferable.
Just yesterday, news-oriented NJ.com treated everyone to a headline about a local, "Health Fare".
At first, I thought that only the headline contained this error, but the body of the article repeated, "fare", in an incorrect context 4 or 5 more times. I would be happy if journalists only used some redundancies, rather than the more flagrant misspellings and incorrect usage.
