I'll admit that I enjoy the words that younger kids use. The first time our daughter and friends said, "We've gotta bounce," I laughed. Great description.
It's more safe to use Happy Holidays since some folks do not celebrate Christmas but other holidays in the same time frame, for example Kwanzaa.
Frankly, I don't care if it is "safe" or not. If someone wants to wish me "Happy Kwanzaa" more power to him. If someone wants to wish me "Happy Hannukah" or "Happy Martinmas" or whatever, more power to him. If I want to wish someone "Merry Christmas", more power to me. Merry Christmas everyone (and Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Martinmas, etc., and so on).

I never quite understood why "Merry Christmas" would be offensive to those who don't celebrate it, until one Friday in May at work when I was speaking to a vendor on the phone. At the end of the call she said "Have a Happy Mother's Day" and I was speechless. Why would a person ASSuME that all females are also Mothers?
Maybe your tone on the phone led the vendor to believe you were a Mother.
ROTFLMAO - point taken. With a different vendor...quite possibly!
