It's not really a word per se, but "congrats" has become thoroughly annoying. And, it sounds ugly. I hope I haven't used it here on the forum. I'm convinced the reason for its use is that people don't know how to spell it correctly.

I always thought that too.

I know it's not a word, but, I despise double negatives. "I didn't do nothing"

The dealership where I bought my car uses this whenever you call the service dept. "My pleasure" is said in response to every single request to be connected to any dept w/in the dealership. One day I had to return a call to the service dept three times and every time, the receptionist said, "my pleasure." Corny and yes, fake. You know it is not her pleasure to press a button on the phone.

using "then" for "than".

OR.....my all time pet peeve ---------"Due to"-------- Planes, Trains, buses, and subway trains are due to arrive at specific times of the day. Events happen "because of" other things. "Due to things beyond our control" would be properly written "Because of things beyond our control......."

bugs me when people say congratulations-as though it had a "d" in it rather than a "t" as in congradulations- Oprah says congraDulations it all the time- Martha Stewart says it correctly

Can't stand it when people end sentences with the word or. Will you be wearing a dress, or? Will you be taking a plane or?....................or WHAT?

I love hearing , "I didn't do nothing!" on T.V. during arrests or interrogations.
