I'm more of a classicist, I suppose. To my mind, rifles - any firearm that a single person can carry - is a small arm. In military parlance, as far as I know, artillery refers to large-caliber mounted tube weapons - mortars & on up to what the US Navy used to call rifles on battleships. The MLRS is a rocket system, but it serves many of the same purposes as artillery, & so I classify it with artillery.
I agree. when I heard 'heavy artillery' my reaction was WHHAAATTT??!!
I actually hear heavy artillery every couple of months...training at the army base that is about 30 MILES from my house! (it's louder on cloudy days)
I live in a low-rent apartment complex where some of the residents come and go rather quickly. This week someone accumulated some of the junk mail that is still being sent to previous tenants, and put it out for the mail carrier to collect. Each of the envelopes had written on them:
Doe's not live here
No, there are no deer living in the building, although there are some around the neighborhood.
