"Tall, dark, and handsome. You are a few degrees above the boy next store, but not too much."

I find it annoying when people use the word "loose" when the correct word should be "lose." i.e. "Jealousy is one of the major reasons people might loose their spouses." I read this grammatical error every day. Oddly enough, I rarely read this error in the reverse.

"You're grammar was pretty on point this time, I'm impressed."

This poster was NOT being ironic. He'd been dubiously "correcting" a woman's spelling and grammar throughout a thread.

I think it's astonishing such a huge number of people think lose is spelled loose and I wonder why it is that way? Since it happens so often, maybe they see it spelled loose and their belief is reinforced...or something like that.

I just received an email message from Pinterest with this title:

Hangry crowd? Solution: These recipes—just in time for Labor Day (phew)

Just a typo, obviously, but you'd think someone at Pinterest would proofread it before sending it to tens of thousands of people.

Hangry is a portmanteau combining the words hungry and angry.

I am not saying it is right, there are few pormanteaux I like, but I have heard it used before. It was explained to me as describing the phenomenon of being so hungry you become angry.

A simple google search of the word comes up with mugs and t-shirts emblazoned with the term as well as plentiful references to it including some negative editorials on its existence. And the science behind the validity of its sentiment.

That's why I never wear flip-flops. They kill my feet!
