Canada has size covered, but I think for it's size it lacks diversity. Culturally I find it a like a dulled down version of America; what would interest me would be Quebec, particularly Quebec City, and the Inuits of the north. The Canadian Rockies are majestic and the Maritime provinces interesting.
Mexico, on the other hand, has huge volcanoes, ancient Aztec ruins, stunning beaches, and a really cool culture. I still imagine it being like an old Western movie or something, the broad, brown vistas, canyons, quaint pueblos with hombres taking siestas wearing sombreros, vibrant parties and mariachi bands, the bustle of modern Mexico City.
If I could only go to one then definately Canada, for the natural beauty and culture. Plus there is already plenty of Mexican and Spanish culture around here in Northern California. But I wouldn't mind checking out Mexico as well sometime.
Canada- mainly as a lover of wintry climate and the promise of hockey on the tv at pubs everywhere Plus the three major cities honestly look really interesting to explore in depth (have visited Toronto and BC but too briefly).
I'm a bird watcher, wildlife, nature enthusiast. Both places have a lot to offer. However I probably wouldn't feel very secure in Mexico, or comfortable with the emergency health system if something happened. Add in the transportation and language difficulties when you're out of major tourist areas and its Canada. Too bad really but unless you stay in certain areas of Mexico you have to be a pretty big risk taker. Maybe when I was younger but not now.
