Which culture, in your opinion, has the most prevalent "all work, no play" mentality in its general population?

Some contenders:

- South Korea: sure they work long hours but they also seem to have plenty of entertainment options, at least compared to the US.

- Germany: They're known for their systematic and efficient work ethic but their work hours lag the US.

- US: Many people think of most areas, except a few big cities, as "boring".

Japan is famous for it. They even have that phenomenon where people die from overwork.

Don't know for the other countries, but I wouldn't put Germany in this list. Germans work less hours than most OECD countries (many vacation days) and seem to have a healthy work-leisure balance.

Japan.

I don't agree with Germany being overworked at all though. They just seem very efficient, logical, and well-balanced in terms of how they organize everything, in general.

Germany looks among the lowest (though might be because more women work part-time?)

Average annual hours actually worked per worker

US is high, South Korea and Greece are even higher.

Most Brits would probably nominate the UK as a country that is all work and no play, but we work less hours than most OECD countries.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned China?!

600,000 Chinese workers die from overwork annually
